High Tech in Vehicles – HÜRNER Schweisstechnik contributes to Erhardt Fahrzeugtechnik's van bodies with maximum payload
In-house ideas, in-house development, in-house manufacture. Erhardt Fahrzeugbau of Ilsenburg, Germany relies on long-standing experience and on specialists with a profound knowledge of the industries they supply to, in order to use their state-of-the-art production installations for jointing processes, glueing procedures, and surface finishing that turn metal- and plastic-base composite materials into innovative products and solutions. Whether it's a prototype or serial production, their clients get all-the-way-through excellence from under the same roof.
As far as vehicle construction is concerned, the material of the future for van bodies is signed Erhardt Fahrzeugtechnik. MonoPan is a very lightweight sandwich panel built with a honeycomb polyproplene core and a homogeneous, thermally bonded surface layer made of fiber-reinforced polypropylene.
The specially designed core features an elastic segment which,
along with the shock-proof surface layer, results in superior rigidity. MonoPan combines a unique mix of key properties into a material that is outstanding in the utility vehicle industries:
- very lightweight
- very rigid
- very long life
- very environmentally friendly
The walls and the top made of MonoPan are welded together to form a finished body which, due to the light weight of the material, allows increasing the payload by up to 75%, as compared to traditional box bodies. The weld-jointing process relies on HÜRNER equipment. In line with the detailed specifications set by this high-tech vehicle construction operation, HÜRNER Schweisstechnik provides both the band heater that is used and the control and regulation equipment that is absolutely required for this precision manufacturing process.
The MonoPan panels that will be made into body walls undergo a plasma process, are primed and then painted in a RAL color at the client's discretion. On top of the possibility to reduce weight, which turns MonoPan into something unique for vehicle construction, MonoPan is characterized by its enormous flexibility in molding and processing, thanks to which it can be implemented in the most diverse applications and uses — with the contribution of HÜRNER Schweisstechnik.
